Tag vier (Day 4): Driving into Lauterbrunnen
“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.”
-- Ernest Hemingway
K: After another lovely French breakfast (did I mention how delicious the croissants are in France?) we met up with our group and headed for Switzerland. Once again, Margaret used the bus time to explain the lay of the land of our Swiss valley and to assist each of us with our specific inquiries and travel preferences. She had also arranged, for any who wanted to participate, an authentic fondue dinner prepared by our hotelier, Brigita. We enjoyed a fantastic meal, getting to visit with several members of our group, while dipping bread, capers, tomatoes and pickles in Brigita’s secret-recipe cheese fondue. Brigita was distressed that Elizabeth would drink water with her meal, as she said fondue required wine to properly digest! Our room at Hotel Jungfrau (our "creaky chalet" for 2 nights) was first rate, as we overlooked the breathtaking valley, waterfalls and all, from our small balcony. Does life get any better than this?

Our Favorites:
K: Sitting on our balcony, marveling at the snow-covered, rugged peaks and the nearby waterfalls.

E: The fondue dinner! It was a blast dipping all sorts of random food into the strong cheese.
