Journal: Travel journals are great for collecting your thoughts at the end of every day. I look back frequently to remember my trip. I found this cute one at Anthropologie. Guidebooks: Study your guidebooks before your departure and store them in your carry on so you can access them on the plane. My mom and I would have been lost without Rick's tips! Leather Backpack: Perfect for storing a water bottle, snack, and a light jacket or scarf. On sale at TJ Maxx. Patterned Blanket: It doesn't take up much room, it's perfect for a long plane or bus ride and it's adorable! $5 at Wal-Mart in a variety of patterns. Neon Sunglasses: Bring a cute, cheap pair (in case you lose or break them) with 100% UV protection. Trendy Keds: Who says comfort can't be cute, too! Makeup Remover Pads: For when you are too tired to shower at night, these worked well to tide me over until my morning shower. Colorful Jeans: Bring dark or patterned jeans to wear. Light jeans get show dirt quicker. Floral prints are very trendy right now. Comfy Dresses: It's fun to dress up for dinner or an evening stroll. Bring modest, summary dresses that are perfect for layering with cardigans. Plus, you'll look super cute in your pictures! Solid/Striped Cardigans: Layers, layers, layers! They keep your suitcase light and you can mix and match them with your outfits. Scarves: Great to keep you warm, add color to your outfit or wrap around yourself for modesty at a church or cathedral. Smart Phone with earbuds: Necessary for so many reasons -- listen to podcasts, send email via wi-fi, locate that Metro stop if you're lost, etc. And be sure to check out the international data and text plans before you leave! Headbands: Sometimes, it's difficult to get ready and be on time. Bring an assortment of headbands for an easy and quick way to add style to your hair and save time. Plus, you'll look fashionable and inexpensive.
